What is a Signature Offer?
When I launched and communicated about Idea to Launch - a framework to help you structure your Signature Offer, someone asked me this interesting question.
It always takes me a bit of time to reply, as I want to do so meaningfully and purposefully. So, to the person who sent this question, thank you for your patience!
In a nutshell, a signature offer is:
1) A packaged offer taking your client from point A to Z.
2) And an experience or transformation you want to be known for.
Such as;
“Intentional Business Building” is my 6-Month Private Mentorship to help you build your legacy-leaving business.
Examples of signature offers my clients created:
“Back on Track” 12-Week Program by Izzy Naud.
“Heart at Work” Circle by Eva Eulenstein.
“Tone of Voice Double” retainer by Becky, The Copywriter.
They are offers that are focused on a transformation, a clear outcome.
As opposed to:
Six months of support.
Six sessions.
1000 words.
30 minutes.
Three calls.
One page.
Three consultation calls.
What Are the Benefits of Having a Signature Offer?
✅ More time and peace of mind, less friction to enroll your clients:
It eliminates the need to personalize your offer to each client and explain and negotiate with each prospect.
✅ Your high-ticket premium offer:
You can price a higher ticket because you’re not charging by the hour but for the experience you’re providing your client and the support you bring to help them create value.
A client can benchmark a service perceived as a commodity, but it’s difficult to benchmark a higher-end experience.
Example:
You can benchmark an hour of coworking space and choose one based on location and pricing.
You may also opt for a coworking space whose price is above the market price, but the brand stands out; you can be attracted by the overall experience, the space’s offering, belonging to the brand’s community, the membership perks, etc.…
✅ A more streamlined marketing ecosystem:
It simplifies your marketing, as instead of promoting several high-ticket offers, you can push this signature offer, and your other lower-tier products become an entry point to your premium offer.
Examples of Basic Offers vs Signature Offers
What Signature Offers Are Not About
🚫 A signature offer may only be suitable for some industries or your unique business model.
For example, one of my clients has a children's creative space and learning center. They run multiple programs for different age groups.
But you can still use elements of this concept to create an outcome-oriented marketing communication!
I love how IBI alumna, Stacie Allan, modelled her translation service on a modified version of the template from Idea to Launch. She took from it what she felt was most relevant for her target clients and officially launched it.
🚫 Having a signature offer doesn’t mean you can’t have other offers.
I have a product staircase with different products at different price points. We teach inside our program, Intentional Business Immersion, how to create a cohesive “offer landscape”—that’s what I like to call it—to match the idea of building a business “by design.”
🚫 Having a signature offer doesn’t mean you offer a cookie cutter service.
It doesn’t mean that you can’t offer bespoke service and highly personalized support - my private mentorship is my signature offer and my most bespoke container.
🚫 It’s not about adding more “stuff” to the offer to justify a higher price point, such as more calls, bonuses, etc. It’s about the results you help your clients achieve.
🚫 It’s not about raising prices and making it a high ticket just because you think that your time is worth it (although this may be true, it not convincing the prospect!).
You have to show the value strategically and clearly convey the “benefits” (not only the “features”)—this is what we teach inside Idea to Launch.
Conclusion
I hope this article clarifies what it means to have a “signature offer” and what this entails.
